Mining

Coal Industry comprises production and procession of mineral and brown coal.  Choosing of the coal production method depends on the depth of a coal mine. Exploration is conducted by an open-pit mining if the depth of an upper layer of coal doesn’t exceed 100 meters. In some cases, if the depth of a coal mine exceeds 100 meters then it is more effective to conduct an exploration by using the underground or strip method.  In Russia in 2005 the share of coal in fuel and energy complex supplies made up about 18% (on average it is 39% around the world) and a little bit more than 20% in electricity generation. The share of coal and gas in fuel complex supplies of RAO ”UES of Russia” in 2005 amounted to 26% and 71% respectively.
